The teenagers living in these families are not just faced with the fact that often there is no food on the table, no money to pay the power bills, no funds to provide enough clothing, foot wear, etc. Teenagers living in these homes are also confronted with the reality of their own powerlessness to change any of it and get a better future. A few will break free, but most will not. Without support and assistance they will be denied access to the many opportunities that our nation has to offer and so the pattern will continue, for them and for their children, and for their children's children.
Learning to Grow is a program for American teenagers living in poverty and designed to give them the power to change their future by providing the means to access the opportunities for growth available to us living in the United States of America.
Learning to Grow provides the funds and support that allows disadvantaged American teenagers to attend school excursions and camps; that provides the school supply and motivation to succeed in their school work; that enables them to actively participate in community recreation and social programs, the simple things that the poverty of their family currently denies to them.
Learning to Grow gives American teenagers living in poverty the chance to change their future by overcoming the barriers to their full participation in American community life today.
Through your financial support of Family Focus USA a teenager in need will be given the opportunity to develop new, healthy and positive attitudes about themselves and the country in which they live and so grow into a much brighter future free of the poverty cycle.
